Here is a list of the most popular Stock Market Movies. These films have traders in them that either make money or lose it all on Wall Street. Some of the videos may be old but they are worth watching if you are in business and want to watch an entertaining drama. I’ve seen all of these and would personally recommend them. You’ll notice the popular movies but hopefully you will find a DVD that you haven’t seen yet. these can be very motivating if you are just starting out in a small business. Watching these will help you keep your mind on your money, and money on your mind.
These titles are in no way in order of which is better or more educational. I hope these entrepreneur movies can give you some inspirational for your own small businesses or give some incite into the professional world. Some of these films are documentaries or based on true events.

“Boiler Room” (2000)
This movie follows a guy that has just dropped out of school and after a poker game finds himself selling stock at a local company. His profits skyrocket while his family relationships suffer. Is it really possible to make millions with so little experience?
“Trading Places” (1983)
Trading Places is a comedy where a successful investor has his job replaced by a man down on his luck. The investor learns what is like to live on the streets while the new man tries to stay successful in his business to keep his new found fortune.
“Barbarians at the Gate” (1993)
This movie is another comedy that follows an investor who is trying to keep control of the business. There are many witty lines that will keep you laughing.
“Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room” (2005)
This is a well written documentary on the Enron Scandal. It examines the events that led up to the great investigation on the company’s spending. It also shares some of the income the top executives got while Americans lost their life savings.
“The Pursuit of Happyness” (2006)
This is an all time favorite of mine. It follows the story of man who has to go through the depths of poverty with his son by his side. This is based on a true story. A businessman without a college degree fighting for a spot in a major company.
“Other People’s Money” (1991)
This is a comedy that really does make you realize how brokers leverage other peoples money and can sometimes be disconnected from what is good for those people.
“Rogue Trader” (1999)
Here is another that is based off of a true story. As the title suggests, a trader has decided to go rogue and play havoc with the market.
“Inside Job” (2010)
This movie with Matt Damon talks about the financial crisis in 2008. It has received many rewards.
“Wall Street” (1987)
This is a classic money making movie. It is a must see movie that is often referenced in other business movies. It follows a young broker who desperately tries to advance in his career. How much is he willing to risk for money?
“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”
This is the second movie of Wall Street. This one follows a new broker who wants to help the world through investments in green products. He finds an investor with a lot of money but at what cost? I would suggest watching the first movie.
“Quicksilver” (1986)
This is great for Kevin Bacon fans! This story involves a man who used to be a broker who now is a bike messenger. There are many cool bike stunts in this movie.
“Citizen Kane” (1941)
Classic movie that is in every business movie list so I had to put it in mine.
“Limitless” (2011)
This movie really motivates me. Of course Bradley Cooper is cute in it too. It follows a man who is down on his luck until he finds this pill that helps him to accomplish goals that make him super successful making millions on the stock market, but how long can he keep it up?
“Pi” (1998)
In this film a mathematician figures out the formula to everything. Stock brokers everywhere want him to share it so they can profit from it.
“The Secret of My Succe$s” (1987)
Great funny movie where a man moves to New York city from the Midwest to become a successful broker. He has to start from the ground level but takes an opportunity to be a top adviser.
“Glengarry Glen Ross” (1992)
ABC Always Be Closing is the best lesson from this movie. It depicts a group of salesman trying to meet their quota. You will see the frustrations they have and the tactics they use to seal the deal.
So that is my list of stock market movies that business interested persons should watch. Make sure to check these out at the library or whatever video platform you use. The should entertain you and you can relate to others who have watched them. Most have a moral story or point to get across that will help you in your own life.
